Repayment of the semester ticket

In general, all students of OsnabrĂŒck University of Applied Sciences must pay a common fee for using the semester ticket. However, certain requirements might lead to a repayment of the semester ticket fee.
Please read the following explanation thoroughly before applying for repayment.

Which requirements lead to a repayment and what do I need to apply for repayment?

  1. You complete an internship/placement or a semester abroad which is located outside the boundaries of the semester ticket (i.e. the state of Lower Saxony including Bremen). In addition, you have to be absent for 120 days in a row (ca. four months) per semester.
    • Additional to the application form, you have to hand in appropriate proof (e.g. contract of internship/placement or a semester abroad) which includes the following information: your first name and family name, location of internship/placement or semester abroad, and the exact dates of your absence.
  1. You take a semester off.
  • Additional to the application form, you have to hand in appropriate proof (here: a verification of taking a semester off, issued by OsnabrĂŒck University of Applied Sciences).
  1. You possess a valid identity card for handicapped people with the letters “G”, “aG”, “H”, “Gl”, or “Bl” (German “Schwerbehindertenausweis (Merkzeichen: G, aG, H, Gl, B oder BI”)).
  • Additional to the application form, you have to hand in appropriate proof (here: valid identity card for handicapped people with one of the letters listed above).
  1. You are enrolled at another university/educational institution in Lower Saxony or Bremen which also uses the semester ticket.
  • Additional to the application form, you have to hand in appropriate proof (i.e. verification that you are enrolled at another university/educational institution in Lower Saxony or Bremen which also uses the semester ticket). In addition, this certification states that you have not applied for semester ticket repayment at this institution in this semester.

When do I have to apply for the repayment of the semester ticket?

For the winter semester: June 1st to October 15th

For the summer semester: January 1st to April 15th

Where do I apply for semester ticket repayment?

Go to https://setier.hs-osnabrueck.de and fill in the online application form and upload the required documents.

What do I have to do when my application was granted?

First, you have to validate your CampusCard at one of our validation
stations to delete the semester ticket for the granted semester:

Finally, you have to come to the office of the General Students’
Committee (“Allgemeiner Studierendenausschuss – AStA)”), at Campus
Westerberg (visitor address: Barbarastr. 7a (building AE), 49076
OsnabrĂŒck) and show your validated CampusCard once.

IMPORTANT: You have to show your validated CampusCard at the AStA office until a certain date.

For the winter semester: until October 31st

For the summer semester: until April 30th

In case you exceed this period of time, your application is rejected automatically.

Is it possible to send another person to validate and show the CampusCard?

Yes. You can send any other person who validates your CampusCard and comes to the office of the General Students’ Committee (“Allgemeiner Studierendenausschuss – AStA)”), at Campus Westerberg or Campus Lingen.

Is it possible to apply for a partial repayment? For example, to pay only for one month to use the semester ticket (because you are abroad for the remaining semester)?

No. In this case, you have to choose whether you want to keep the semester ticket (and pay the full fee), or whether you want to apply for a semester ticket repayment of the full semester.
