A large proportion of cyclists in Osnabrück are students, who are exposed to the dangers of inner-city heavy goods traffic every day. Again and again, there are fatal accidents involving trucks – eleven in the last six years alone! Truck drivers use the federal highway 68, which runs through the middle of the city, as a shortcut to save tolls, or their navigation systems steer them specifically via the B68 instead of the A1 and A30 motorways.

The safety risk for the weaker road users in Osnabrück must finally be defused. An important step to get the passing heavy goods traffic out of the city would be the relocation of the B68 to the surrounding motorways 1 and 30. A relocation is only possible after the construction of the A33 north.

But we don’t want to wait another ten years. Cyclists and pedestrians must be better protected NOW so that the dying stops! Other advantages would be less congestion, more space for pedestrians and cyclists, less noise on the ring road and fewer pollutants.

The AStA of Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences supports the petition initiated by the General German Bicycle Club Osnabrück (ADFC), which is addressed to the State Minister Bernd Althusmann (MW) and the Federal Minister Andreas Scheuer (BMVI).
