Your parents didn’t go to university, but you decided to go on the adventure of studying at university? Then you should prick up your ears now, because there is support for you! The project “Let’s go to university! – Service for Study Pioneers” is tailored directly to you, it can support you during your studies and it is worth a presentation in our category “Cool Projects” for many reasons.
What exactly is the project about?
The project is designed to support first-time students on their way to successful studies and thus create more equal opportunities. The project “Auf ins Studium!” is intended to focus on the potential of those eligible for university entrance qualification from families without academic tradition and to counteract the shortage of skilled workers.
How did the project actually come about?
The university project began in the fall of 2013, when the concept developed by the university was convincing in the competition on the topic of “Study Pioneers” by the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft and Stiftung Mercator . The university received prize money, which on the one hand made it possible to award 18 scholarships and on the other hand made structural funding possible.
And what is this structural funding?
So, structural funding is about creating and promoting offers, such as:
– Mentoring
– Action days
– Specialist lectures
– Establishment of an alumni network- Meetings with other study pioneers
– Contact with companies
You are probably wondering how you can benefit from this great project as a study pioneer, even though you are not one of the scholarship holders selected once, right?
Good question!
Here comes the answer: The project to promote the study pioneers is to develop sustainably and the one-time support from the Stifterverband was ultimately the starting signal for this. The structures that have already been created are now to be further developed. As a first-time student from your family, you will therefore have the opportunity to inform yourself with us, participate in the project and thus benefit from the non-material support for study pioneers.
