The campus in Haste seemed deserted these days. And there couldonly be one reason for that: It’s block week! At the campus in Lingen, however, things lookedquite different. For the first time, the MKT student council and the AStA , together with many helpers, held a meeting in the large campus hall  Campus in Concert . All university students were cordially invited to this event.

Where is Lingen?

“Well then…”, thought a small group of Hasterans. In Lingen there is party, music and beer. We’ve never been there before (Where is Lingen?), then let it go!” Said – done. Off to the distant Emsland – or more precisely: to one of the three corners of the manure triangle, where schnapps and drinking are said to have been invented.

It takes a sociable hour of train travel to the Lingen train station, from where you can see the modern campus directly. In the huge hall you feel very small, but still very comfortable: Many people, happy music and actually some familiar faces. To the great surprise, we immediately got the “Haster Dunkel” in our hands and we felt right at home. The people ofLingen know how to make friends! 😉

Impressive architecture vs. rural flair

This really large campus, where locomotives were once repaired, is now home to around 2,000 students. After the closure of the Lingen railway repair shop at the beginning of the 90s, it was heavily renovated and since 2010 the Institute for Dual Study Courses, the Institute for Management and Technology and the Institute for Communication Management have been united under one roof. Together (with the Institute for Theatre Education in the Old Town) they form the Faculty of Management, Culture and Technology (MKT) at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. The steel structure of the hall is 200 metres long, 56 metres wide and almost 15 metres high. Learned something again. The total contrast to our rural campus in Haste. But one thing should be said: Lingen is absolutely worth a trip! With so much gigantic structure, you can also see over the green 80s tiles. 😉

Concert feeling

With a hop juice in our hands, we stood in front of the stage and listened to the musicians. The hall filled up steadily and the dean of the MKT faculty also joined at some point. He was visibly pleased that students from Osnabrück also found their way to Lingen and wished us Hasterans a lot of fun celebrating. We enjoyed the evening and the good music, which was offered to us by various musicians and groups of the Institute of Music. Unfortunately, the time went by much too quickly! On the last train shortly after 10:00 p.m. (Oh yes, that’s really very early…) we drove back to our Osnabrooklyn.

Repetition desired!

Many thanks to the team from Lingen for this great campus concert. The location was perfect, the event well organized and the music top notch. But if we had arrived with a whole bus full of Hasterans, the one beer wagon would not have been enough! 😉

If anyone else from Osnabrück has traveled to Campus in Concert, they are welcome to post their impressions and/or pictures in the comments!
