Another semester is over and the student councils WiSo & IuI are already busy planning numerous events for you Studies at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences for SoSe’18. In this article, however, we would like to review WS 17/18 once again.

As always, the winter semester 17/18 began for the first-year students one week before the start of the semester with the campus tour and thus the visit of the student council WiSo. Once there, each freshman received a freshman bag so that they could start their studies in the best possible way. The IuI student council also welcomed its first-year students, as is customary after years of tradition, with the mountain festival. In view of the coming semester and the Flunkyball tournaments taking place (T-Fest, Beach Party, IuI Flunkyball), the WiSo Student Council taught the first-year students the official, university-wide Flunkyball rules on the last Friday before the start of the semester.

On September 25, the semester began for all other studies. In an official celebration in the Stadthalle Osnabrück, we welcomed the new first-year students of all faculties together with our president Prof. Dr. Bertram.

This was followed by the city rally, in which the new students had to master a wide variety of tasks together with their mentors at stations spread across Osnabrück.

For the perfect end to the day, first-year students, second-year-olds, third-students and all other students from all faculties celebrated the start of the semester together at our Study-In Party at the Virage until late at night!

For the first-year students who registered quickly enough, it was a few weeks later for three days on the legendary freshers’ weekend. The student councils WiSo & IuI spend a weekend together with the first-year students outside of Osnabrück in order to network the faculties even better.

In October, the student council WiSo organized the semi-annual semester spokesperson conference.

At this meeting, all semester representatives of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences come together to discuss current topics regarding the committees and the individual degree programs. In doing so, we help all degree programs to network with each other and offer everyone the opportunity to tell what should be improved about their degree program.

This semester, the student councils WiSo & IuI organized the university cinema every Monday with many cool films, popcorn and cool drinks. Of course, the Feuerzangenbowlenspecial on the Monday before Christmas was not to be missed!

This semester, the campus hustle and bustle took place at the same time as the preparations for the
university elections
. The student council WiSo and the student council IuI also each presented themselves with a stand on the campus hustle and bustle of the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and offered beer and mulled wine there.

For the university elections, the student councils WiSo & IuI together with the AStA organized a
meet & greet
for all candidates of the elections in December in order to network better and get to know each other in advance.

After the long-awaited end of the exam phase in February, we celebrated the end of WS 17/18 with a cool Study Out Party at the Nize Club.

We, the student councils, are already looking forward to the many events that are announced in the coming semester, such as the Study In, the semester spokesperson conference, the
terrace party
and also the legendary
beach party
!

In addition, we would like to thank all helpers and friends of the student council who always support us at our events!
