Around 60 percent of employees in Germany commute. Daily. The number of commuters is also growing among students. One reason: Housing is becoming more and more expensive in cities, so many prefer to stay at home for the time being. But don’t despair! Although we can’t solve the housing problem, we will show you how commuting might be more pleasant for you.

Because: The university, together with the University of Osnabrück and Stadtwerke Osnabrück, has now set itself the task of organizing carpooling via a commuter portal. This not only saves costs and money for commuters, but also benefits the environment. Because fewer car journeys equal, less exhaust fumes equal… You know the bill. 😉 And the best thing about it: it is completely free of charge for you as a member of the university! At least until December 31, 2018.

Here’s how it works

The commuter portal we’re talking about here is called TwoGo. It is available as an app in both the App Store and the Google Play Store. Or as a desktop application. To use it, all you have to do is follow these steps:

  1. Registration
Registration is via a link. However, depending on the location, there is a different registration link. So first choose your campus: Caprivi/Westerberg, Haste, Lingen.
  2. Enter
dataThat goes without saying. Please note: You must enter your university e-mail, otherwise the use of the portal is not free of charge!
  3. Set
    settings
Here you can set ride settings (with whom, vehicle) as well as other profile settings.
  4. Create
    ride request
Now you can indicate whether you offer or are looking for a ride, when and where you want to go. Once you have created the trip, you will be provided with (co-)drivers, whom you then only have to confirm.
  5. Let’s go!
    That’s pretty much it.

Further information and info video

You can find detailed instructions and everything else about TwoGo in the OSCA portal. If you have any questions, you can also contact the university’s mobility team at mobilitaet@hs-osnabrueck.de. And in the video, you will be explained again very briefly how everything works. And now, have fun commuting!
