Germany was hit by tornadoes and the Rock am Ring Festival had to be cancelled on Sunday afternoon due to severe thunderstorms. 90,000 understanding fans (with over 2,500 reactions on Facebook, there were only 250 angry smileys(!!), as the Spiegel scientifically determined) made their way home through the mud. More than 80 people are reported injured after the lightning strikes on the Rock am Ring site. Korn or Black Sabbath, who are currently on a worldwide farewell tour “The End”, hopefully didn’t have too much turbulence on their return flight without suddenly folded down oxygen masks for the now really long-established rockers. How old is Ozzy the same?
But the prospects are good. Consolation in sight. The coming weekend offers enough program. The European Football Championship 2016 is just around the corner (think of your betting rounds!) and in Osnabrück the Fairytale and the Woanders Festival will take place in the courtyard of the university. The connection to Rock am Ring is of course absolute nonsense. Nevertheless, the AStA of the university must be credited with the versatile and interesting line-up that has been put together. With the-hop band “Ohrbooten”, who otherwise also play Rock am Ring, the all-destroying funny indie band “Kapelle Petra” from Nashville in North Rhine-Westphalia or the R’n’B-Pop newcomer Lucas Newman, the current figurehead of the IfM-Mucker (Institute for Music), there is plenty of variety. And the best thing about it: The weather forecasts are saying good! Mild temperatures, but it should be sunny. On Sunday, you can dance open-air to electro all day long. How do you reconcile that with the games of the European Championship? Ask me something lighter. I’m going to tear myself apart.
Fairytale Festival
The Fairytale Festival in the courtyard of the university is completely free of charge for everyone this year. On Saturday, it starts at 2:30 p.m. and 10 live bands await you on two stages. As every year, a big band will start at 2:30 p.m. Here is a video overview without big accompanying words.

I am very much in favor of you going to the university campus as a university student and having a good time. As it currently looks, it should be a sunny day with mild temperatures. The best prerequisite to drum up the whole university tour and take this festival with you.
After-Show-Party
If you want to dance afterwards, you can do so at the after-show party in the university’s large EW building. Three DJs will play from 11:00 p.m. onwards. In recent years it has been full! Very crowded! Take a look.
Woanders Festival 2016
On Sunday, the university’s castle courtyard will also become the festival grounds. If the weather is hopefully good, there will be open-air dancing to electro music. Several DJs will play between 12:00 – 20:00: Schoo & Rauer, Kafka Esk, MarciK, Zini & Ed, Herr Matthias and HanLoLo. Admission costs you 5-8 euros. You decide at the checkout how much you can spare.
