Procrastination for advanced users – Part 1: the campus talk app Jodel

The modern buildings of the university do have one disadvantage – snappy sayings on toilet doors and folding tables are absent. But a small app from Berlin now provides a remedy:  Yodelling.

Trendsetter Münster?

In Münster, people have been talking about it since the beginning of the year, and Osna is now following suit. Anonymously, you can use the free Android or Android version.iOS app, which are then upvoted ordownvoted by the community (9gagsends its regards). With a vote of -5, the message flies out again. The news is limited to the immediate vicinity. A “yodelling”, i.e. replying to a post, is also possible. For example, questions such as how to get a bike cheaply in OS, or what else is possible in the evening, are answered quickly. The core theme, however, is precisely those sayings that can still be found on the toilet doors in the Bib Alte Münz: curiosities, flat jokes and useless knowledge. Andthat’s exactly why we procrastinate! 😉

At the moment, the first-year students are due. They take away all our seats in the cafeteria, flood the city and club and of course they are also to blame for the weather. Anyone who complains about all the freshman blows is quickly dismissed as a fun killer. But don’t worry: the Osnabrück yodelers are sweet and nice, the hashtag #ironie is just something from 2013!

You have to like it. For one it is too crude, the other searches completely. The location-relatedness brings the fun of former Facebook groups such as “What an Osnabrück resident doesn’t say…”. Due to the anonymity, the self-portrayal of typical social networks is absent and the community punishes inappropriate comments through the voting system. However, the Osnabrück yodelling community currently still seems quite clear and very student-like. If the whole thing expands to the broad market, as the creators are planning, there will probably be a completely different tone.
