Are you a freshman and have heard of the stupa or the student council and would like to participate? Or have you been at the university for a long time and have the feeling that now it’s time to get down to business and make a difference? Then this is your chance! Because the university elections are coming up! We know that the Bundestag and state elections have only just ended, but now comes the most important election, because here you decide.

What does that mean?

You have certainly been to a party organized by a student council . Each individual student council member is elected by you or the other students of your faculty. Direct. The same applies to the student parliament (Stupa for short), the Senate and the faculty councils. In principle, this means that you indirectly determine what is going on with your vote. But it’s much better if you let yourself be set up. Then you decide directly what parties or other events there are, how the university is organized and, above all, what student life looks like!

Who are we looking for?

Quite simply: you. You don’t need any management experience to be able to participate in the student committees. For us, it’s about having fun and being interested in wanting to change and make a difference. There is something for everyone on campus: You want to decide on the semester ticket and the student budget? Then the Stupa, the highest student body, is the right place for you. You want to plan events from time to time, then get nominated for the student councils. Or if you want to make a difference directly at your faculty, then you absolutely have to join the faculty council. Or do you want to decide on university-wide matters together with professors and employees of the university? Then off to the Senate with you!

And why should I do that?

Sure, studying can sometimes be demanding, but you’ve probably noticed that studying is not only there to develop intellectually, but also personally. What helps more to get to know and develop one’s strengths than to gain experience?

And apart from that: Each of us has had something that bothered us at the university, even if it was just the DJ at the last party. You can then take this into your own hands in the future.

So, be part of it!

Stand for the committee of your choice until the end of October and become part of a huge community: the University Friends.
In the coming days and weeks, all these university friends – i.e. all members of the student committees – will organize meet & greets and will always be available to answer your questions in the offices anyway. You can also fill out your application form there. So let’s go now! Come around, it’s going to be awesome!
