Although the project has only been running for two semesters, more than 50 students are already involved in Campus without Borders, advising and accompanying over 100 refugees and organizing numerous meeting opportunities around the campus.
Of course, the Campus without Borders celebrations will remain unforgettable!evenings – because with music and dance, the ice is always broken quickly. The joint, cozy cooking evenings with Persian specialties were also a great enrichment for all participants. And just like with mom in the kitchen, in a family atmosphere, this is where the best conversations arise.
Exchange Project 2.0
Now the exchange project is also entering its second round next semester. The tandem project, the core project, is about exchange at eye level at joint meetings, but also about supporting the refugee tandem partners in settling into everyday student life.
Gunda and Ayat from Syria formed a tandem together last semester and Gunda proudly reports: “At the beginning we had to talk a lot with hands and feet, but that has gotten so much better in the short time. It was with her that I got to know the tireless hospitality of the Syrians. We got along well right away and we will definitely continue to meet, no question.”
So if you would like to support the new guest students when they arrive at the university and are interested in other countries and cultures, sign up as an exchange partner for the coming semester. You can find more information here.
Last but not least
Thank you to all helpers for your commitment! Without you, none of this would have been possible. We have achieved and experienced so many beautiful things together. For the happy end of the semester and last meeting before the semester break, we invite everyone to say “Thank you!” festival on 9 July in the CaLo.
