Attention, this possibility is intended to put pressure on the state government. This is not an insurance that the university must approve the application. As described below, there are currently not many options in Lower Saxony for non-crediting of the semester.

Covid-19 poses a major challenge for many students:
Lectures only take place online, libraries can only be used to a limited extent, semesters abroad are cancelled and internships are suspended or postponed.

For various reasons, it is not possible for many students to fully participate in a digital semester this summer.
The resulting delay in studies is accompanied by a number of other consequences.
Long-term tuition fees, increased costs for health insurance and the elimination of child benefit are just some of the prospective consequences.

For this reason, other federal states, such as North Rhine-Westphalia and Berlin, do not count the summer semester 2020 towards the standard period of study for all students.
As a “compromise”, the state of Lower Saxony only offers the possibility of submitting a “hardship application” to extend the study credit.

For this reason, we call on you students to submit such a hardship application to extend your study credit!
In this way, we show that these are not “some hardship cases”, but that it affects almost all students!

Detailed information and a template for the application can be found on the website of the LandesAstenKonferenz:
