In the summer semester of 2020, the suspicion became public that secret film recordings were being made in toilets of the Institute of Music. Since the beginning of this year, there has been increasing clarity regarding the incidents of sexual violence at the Institute of Music. According to information from the police, both people and rooms of the university were identified on the seized film materials.

We are in contact with the responsible persons at the university about this case.
We welcome the fact that the affected students are given the opportunity for professional advice and discussion. We also expect the incident to be fully clarified.

As the AStA of Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and thus as a student interest group, we condemn this incident of sexual violence. As part of the hochschulfreunde, we are committed to a culture of respect and togetherness at our university. Any violent and transgressive behaviour
runs counter to this principle of our commitment.

We know that sexual discrimination and sexual violence do not stop at the doors of the university. We therefore see it all the more as our duty to resolutely oppose any tendencies. This is the only way we can ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future. Therefore, we will offer our committee members workshops on how to deal with sexualised violence. In this way, we want to raise awareness of this topic even more.

As AStA, we are, among other things, the first point of contact for students in crisis situations. We are aware of this role. We would therefore like to draw attention to the various counselling services on the subject of sexualised violence at the university
Osnabrück. In addition, we would like to take this opportunity to refer to the guideline of the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences on dealing with sexual discrimination, harassment and violence.
