The current war events taking place in the Ukraine, whose capital Kiev is only 1700km away from us, is alarming. It’s not just the Ukraine: all over the world, there are conflicts that are being carried out using alarmed force instead of trying to resolve them in a diplomatic manner.
We, as the AStA of the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, are dismayed to have to watch these developments and are concerned about what is happening on the soil of a sovereign European state. Acts of war against people cannot be justified by anything. The suffering the people in these regions have to endure is distressing and we hope that this horror will soon be over.
The student committees of the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences are aware of their social responsibility and strive for peaceful and sustainable coexistence in all aspects. The students and employees at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences who have friends, acquaintances or family members in crisis regions have our deepest sympathy and full solidarity.
If you want to help people, you can do so through the following organisations:
Aktionsbündnis Katastrophenhilfe, UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe, UNICEF, Ärzte ohne Grenzen, etc. And don’t forget the blood donations that take place every semester.
If you want to donate specifically to the people in the Ukraine and you are in Osnabrück:
You can do so via the “Grünen Jäger” or the “VFL Osnabrück”. These of course are only suggestions, there are many other ways to contribute.
